Edward C. Gurka
Licensed Funeral Director
A funeral service professional since 1984, Mr. Gurka has been a licensed funeral director with our firm since 1988. He began his career at Curtis J. Holt Sons Funeral Home in Woonsocket. Ed resides in Middletown and enjoys gardening and traveling. He was raised in a restaurant family and attended Johnson and Wales Culinary Arts College. With this experience, he helps facilitate the funeral home's “Cooking for You” program, a part of Community Connections. Ed currently serves on various bereavement boards at Newport Hospital. |

Brian A. Massarotti
Licensed Funeral Director
Working part time at our funeral homes while in high school, Mr. Massarotti returned as a licensed funeral director in 1991. He began his professional career at Beachwood Funeral Home, Revere, Massachusetts, and later with the Caparco family at the Hill Funeral Home, East Greenwich, Rhode Island.
Raised in Portsmouth, Mr. Massarotti still makes his home there. Brian enjoys training for his black belt in Shaolin Kempo Karate, travelling, and speding time with his beautiful daughter, as well as family and friends.
Brian is a member of the National Funeral Directors Association and the Rhode Island Funeral Directors Association. |

Jeffrey M. Smith
Licensed Funeral Director
Involved in funeral service since 1988, Jeff grew-up in Warwick and was formerly a funeral director with Lawrence E. Fagan, Jr. Funeral Home in North Kingstown and Peter J. Barrett Funeral Home in Warwick. An ordained member of the clergy, he is a graduate of the New England Institute of Anatomical Science at Mount Ida College in Newton, MA and received his Doctor of Divinity Degree in Theology from the International Theological University in Pasadena, CA.
Jeff enjoys traveling, spending time with his family and friends, sports of all kinds and riding his motorcycle. Jeff is a member of the National Funeral Director’s and Rhode Island Funeral Director’s Associations and is an Assistant Coach with Newport Little League. He is also very active in officiating many local funeral and wedding ceremonies on Aquidneck Island and surrounding communities. |

Sean J. Hackett
Licensed Funeral Director
Sean has worked for over 5 years in funeral service, originally as a Certified Crematory Operator, and more recently as a Funeral Director's Apprentice. Sean recently graduated from FINE Mortuary College in July 2008 with an Associate Degree in Mortuary Science. He received his funeral director’s license in January of 2009. Sean is a 30 year resident of Aquidneck Island, living in Middletown with his wife and family. |
