Bernadette Spicola

Portsmouth, RI - Bernadette Spicola, of Pear Street, Portsmouth, RI, died Friday, May 25, 2012, at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River, MA. Born in Fall River, MA on May 14, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Edmund and Pauline (Pietraszek) Rocha.Bernadette was born and raised in Fall River, MA. She graduated with honors with a bachelor's degree from Roger Williams and an MBA from University of Rhode Island. Her career lasted nearly 27 years, working as a systems analyst for NUWC. Raising her family in Portsmouth, she was beloved in her neighborhood, always providing an open door for the kids and a warm smile for her neighbors. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Dr. Francis C. Spicola, PhD of Portsmouth, her sons Francis "Frankie" Spicola of Riverside, RI, Chris Santos of Swansea, MA, Peter Spicola of Riverside, RI, and Carl Spicola of Richmond, RI, and a daughter Maria Brown of Middletown, RI. She also leaves five grandchildren, Jackson, Harrison, Victoria, Diana and Erin, and two brothers, Michael Rocha and his wife Carolyn of Westport, MA and Edmund Rocha of Providence, RI. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 1 at 10:00am in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.
