Claire Delaney

Claire Delaney, 88, of Middletown, RI, died peacefully on Saturday, December 15, 2012, at the Grand Islander Health Care Center in Middletown.She was the wife of the late William Delaney who passed away in 1972.Born in Manchester, NH on February 20, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Diana (Proulx) Lariviere.Mrs. Delaney graduated from Towle High School in Newport, NH. She worked as a telephone operator in NH and Fall River, MA. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and dancing.She is survived by her children, Michael Delaney and his wife Jackie of Claremont, NH, Christine Lavendier of New Bedford, MA, Sandy Stewart and her husband Bobby of Owasso, OK, Susan Dryden and her husband Keith of DeBary, FL, Nancy Delaney of Milford, NH and Jim Delaney and his wife Shelly of Middletown, RI; her brother, Andrew Lariviere of Wells, ME; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister, Rose Delaney, and her brothers, Bernard and Louis Lariviere.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2012, at 11:00am in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI. Calling hours will be held before the service from 10:00-11:00am in the funeral home.Her burial will be private.Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimers Association, 245 Waterman Street, Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906.
