Lorraine (Almeida) Mello Portsmouth, RI - Lorraine (Almeida) Mello, 79 of Portsmouth, RI, died on July 27, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Manor in Bristol.She was the wife of the late William Francis Mello. Born in Bristol, RI on November 26, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Maria (Rebello) Almeida.Mrs. Mello was a 1954 graduate of Colt Memorial High School in Bristol. She worked for Newport Jai Alai for 18 years. She also worked at Transcom as an electronics assembler for 16 years. Mrs. Mello was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed puzzles, reading and knitting. She loved most to spend time with her loving Grand Children. She is survived by her sons, William F. Mello Jr. and his wife Lori of Tiverton, RI, Michael Mello and his wife Joyce of Portsmouth, RI, James Mello and his wife Paula of Bristol, RI and John Mello and his wife Jolene of Clinton, TN, her brothers Edward Almeida and his wife Eve of Warren, RI, her grandchildren Brad Mello, Macy Mello, Mark Mello and Kelly Mello, and Mary Rodriques, and her loving friend, John G. Arruda or Portsmouth, RI.She was the sister of the late Fernandes Almeida, Al Almeida, Alice Vierra and Dolores Carreiro.Calling hours will be held on Friday July 29, 2016 from 5-8pm in Connors Funeral Home 55 West Main Road in Portsmouth. Her funeral will be held on Saturday July 30, 2016 at 9am from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian burial at 10am in St. Anthony's Church 2836 East Main Road in Portsmouth. Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.
