Middletown, RI - Manuel ?Mike? Silvia, 75, of 265 Prospect Avenue Middletown, RI, died Friday, December 19, 2003 at home.He was the husband of Margery E. Berthold Silvia Born in Middletown, RI on January 11, 1928, he was the son of the late Frank M. and Mary Medeiros Silvia. Mr. Silvia attended schools in Middletown. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He retired as a Civilian Employee of the Transportation Department, NETC, Newport.He was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church where he served as Trustee, Deacon and Sexton. Mr. Silvia served as Committee Chairman of Scout Troop 70 of Newport. He was a member of the Teamsters, AARP and NARF National Association of Retired Federal Workers. He is survived by his Wife of forty-eight years Margery E. Silvia of Middletown, RI, three sons Paul A. Silvia of Middletown, RI, Robert J. Silvia of Oak Ridge, TN, and Michael Silvia of Massachusetts, two brothers, Frank Moniz and Jesse Silvia both of Middletown, four sisters Rose Rosa and Mary Leyden both of Middletown, RI, Flora Borsare of Boxford, MA and Gloria Silvia of Newport, RI, two grandsons, four granddaughters and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Anthony Moniz. His funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2003 at 10:00am in First Presbyterian Church, Broadway And Everett, Newport. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Donations in his memory may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Deacons Fund, Everett Street, Newport, RI 02840 or Hepatitis Foundation International, 504 Black Drive, Silver Spring, MD 20904-2901.
