Dorothy Benisch

November 13, 1934 ~ August 10, 2018 (age 83)
Dorothy “Dotty” Benisch, 83, of Newport, RI and North Palm Beach, FL, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 10, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 13, 1934 in Newport, RI to the late William Del Nero and Marion Preece. She was the wife of William F. Benisch for 65 years.

Dotty graduated from Rogers High school and remained in Newport raising her 7 children with her high school sweetheart, Bill. She loved the beach and spent her summers with her children and then grandchildren at several of the Newport beaches. Dotty became an avid gardener and she received several honorable mentions from Newport In Bloom. She could also be found doing the bookkeeping when needed at the family business, Bill Del Nero Laundry and Cleaners. She moved permanently to FL in 2009. Dotty and Bill enjoyed traveling and went on many cruises together with family and friends.

In addition to her husband, Dotty is survived by her daughters Cynthia Saez and her husband Ismael, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and Susan Morgan and her husband Paul, of Portsmouth, her sons
David Benisch of FL, Thomas Benisch and his wife Dawn of Middletown, and Michael Benisch of Middletown. Dotty is also survived by her sister Delores “Dolly” Del Nero of Middletown, and her grandchildren David, Nicole, Meghan, Selene, Kristina, Alexandra, Julianna, Jessica, Katie, Kelsey, Kayla, and 9 great grandchildren. Dotty was known as Mimi to all of her grandchildren and also became Mimi to all of her friends and neighbors children as well.

She was preceded in death by her sons Stephen and William Benisch II and her brother William “Duke” Del Nero.

Calling hours will be held Friday September 14th, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway Newport, RI.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday September 15th, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway Newport, RI.

Burial will follow in Trinity Cemetery in Portsmouth, RI.
