Mckenzie Ryan Leno, 18 of Newport R.I., passed from this earth, after a short illness, on February 15, 2018 at RI Hospital.

Born in Newport, R.I., the son of Robert J. and Emily (Gray) Leno, he was a loving, and loyal son.

From a very young age, McKenzie loved sports. He began playing soccer in elementary school, and then he discovered the game of lacrosse. By the time he entered Rogers High School, he added football, and basketball, for all 4 years, graduating in 2017.

In September he entered Plymouth State University, in Plymouth NH, to major in Sports management. He also joined the Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity.

When he was not playing sports, he enjoyed being with his closest friends, Karl ,Mitchell, ND, TBlake, Curtis, Tim, and Jake. They would attend Bruins games, sit in the back yard around the fire pit, or just spend late nights eating Bagel Bites, and of course, watching his beloved Eagles.

And then there were his girls, Taylor, Emma, Johanna, Jana, Brielle, and Mikayla, who were always by his side.

Each summer he always looked forward to working at the Newport Folk and Jazz Festivals, behind the grill or on a water cart.

McKenzie grew up in a home of extended family, and cousins. He knew what family was really all about.

Besides his parents, he will be truly missed by brothers and sisters Robert Leno Jr. and his wife Jennifer of North Attleboro, MA., Joseph Leno, Sharon George-Bogaars and her husband Hans, Karl Magner, Mitchell Ventura, Christopher George, Taylor George and Sage Bogaars all of Newport. James George and his wife Heidy of Fayetteville, NC.
