Abram Russell Beekman

Abram Russell Beekman III, 71, of Newport, Rhode Island, passed away on June 16, 2018 at St. Clare home in Newport with his family by his side.Russell was born February 5, 1947, in Newport, RI to Abram R. Beekman Jr and Dorothy (Pike) Beekman. He graduated from De LaSalle Academy and went on to Providence College. He finished his college career as one of the first male students at Salve Regina where he graduated with a B.A.Russell went on to work for over 20 years at the NUSC Library from which he retired. He was also a long time active member of the Epilepsy Foundation of America and a devout Catholic.Russell is survived by his siblings; Carolyn Beekman amp; Christine Young of Newport, Stephen Beekman of Wakefield, Peter Beekman of Ohio and many nieces and nephews.Russell will be best remembered by his family and friends for his amazing resilience, his acceptance of his handicaps, his gratitude for life and his enduring sense of humor.Calling hours will be held Friday, June 22 2018 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway, Newport RI..A Memorial Service will be held following calling hours at 11:00 am in the funeral home.Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery, Brown's Lane in Middletown.
