Adele Hopf, 65, of Newport, passed away Wednesday, December 5 at Newport Hospital. Adele was born on December 1, 1953 in Newport, RI, she died four days after her birthday.
Born in Newport, she was the daughter of Audrey (Linehan) Hopf and the late John T. Hopf of Newport. She has been a resident of Newport and Middletown most of her life. She graduated from Rogers High School where she excelled atthe violin in the All City Orchestra. She went on to serve her country with the US Army. After her service she went onto graduate from URI with a teaching degree and worked as a substitute teacher in the Newport school system. Later on in life she worked in the jewelry industry, drove cabs and worked for Citizens Bank. She volunteered for the Salvation Army after school program tutoring children and teaching them to play the games she loved.
Adele was a supporter of many animal groups including the SPCA and Best Friends.
She had a love of music and played the violin in the orchestra throughout the state. Inlater years she was a member of St. Lucys Choir.
Besides her mother, she is survived by her sisters Linda Davignon and her husband Patrick of Cranston, Cathy Drescher of Warwick, and Susan Hopf of Newport. She also leaves a brother John J. Hopf of Middletown. She also leaves her Aunt Estelle OConnell and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, December 7 at 10:30am at St. Lucys Church in Middletown, 909 West Main Road, Middletown. Burial will follow at St. Columba Cemetery.
