Adley "Al" W. Correia

Adley "Al" William Correia, age 79, of Smithfield died Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center in Providence. Mr. Correia was born September 1, 1938, in Portsmouth, RI, the son of the late Alfred and the late Mary (Anselmo-Vieira) Correia. He was the loving husband of Eleana (Camara) Correia for over 52 years. Mr. Correia served honorably in the US Army and worked as a carpenter most of his life. In his spare time, he could be found on the golf course. Al was a former member at the Green Valley Country Club and PPACC. He was a Patriots fan, but particularly loved the Red Sox, and enjoyed woodworking and puzzles. Mostly he enjoyed the time spent with his family and his grandchildren.Besides his wife, Eleana, he is survived by four daughters: Andrea Engle and her husband William of Lincoln, RI, Jennifer Heaps and her husband Thomas of Somerset, MA, Kimberly Johnson of Smithfield, RI and Jaime Soares and her husband Benjamin of Somerset, MA, his sister, Connie Mathias of Portsmouth, RI, six grandchildren, Nicholas Engle, Brianna Heaps, Abigail Engle, Patrick Heaps, Blake Johnson, Chace Johnson, and many nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by his siblings, Alma Correia, Mary Mello, Alfred Correia, Henry Correia, Everett Correia, and Jimmy Correia.Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018, from 7:30-10:30am at the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth.His funeral will follow with a Mass of Christian Burial, at 11:00 am, in St. Anthonys Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.
