Aldo Leo Marzetta

January 11, 1945 — March 12, 2026

Aldo Leo Marzetta, Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, at the age of 81. He was born on January 11, 1945, in Milford, Massachusetts, and spent his formative years being raised in Hopedale, Massachusetts, cultivating a spirit of curiosity and a passion for learning that would define his remarkable life.

A proud graduate of Hopedale High School, Class of 1963, Aldo embarked on a distinguished 45-year career as an Electrical Engineer at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) in Newport, Rhode Island. His intellect and dedication to his work were only rivaled by his commitment to sharing his knowledge, as he also enjoyed teaching at Milford High School, inspiring the next generation of engineers and innovators, and ultimately jumpstarting his career at NUWC.

Aldo was married to his sweetheart, the "Portuguese girl he met on the bus ride back to Boston" - Nina Vaz Marzetta, with whom he shared a deep bond filled with love and laughter. Together, they built a home in Middletown, Rhode Island, where they raised their son, Ryan, and daughter, Ninita, and welcomed their adored son-in-law, Craig. Aldo embraced his role as "Babu" with tremendous joy, spending cherished moments with his grandchildren, Jarod, Alexandra, and Evan, who brought him immeasurable happiness.

An avid gardener, Aldo found solace and satisfaction in tending to his yard, cultivating both vegetables and flowers with meticulous care. He often shared the fruits of his labor with those he encountered: friends, neighbors, colleagues; he even brought vegetables to the workers at the post office and pharmacy, much to their delight. He took pride in his home and was always eager to lend a hand to family and friends, often bringing his toolbox along to help fix up their houses. Known for his friendly demeanor and kindness, Aldo formed lasting friendships with his neighbors and was a beloved figure in his community.

A fitness enthusiast, Aldo dedicated time to working out at Planet Fitness, always striving to maintain a healthy lifestyle. His hobbies included coin collecting, where he had a remarkable knack for discovering hidden treasures, and collecting key chains during his travels, each with a story to tell. Often, he could be heard cheerfully whistling the tune of the "Odd Couple" theme song, a reflection of his joyful spirit. A passionate Star Wars fan, he was proud of his collectibles, which brought him immense joy.

Aldo's zest for life and his unwavering kindness will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and the countless lives he touched throughout his remarkable journey.
