Alexander Walter Bobiak
January 24, 1956 — September 9, 2022
On September 9, 2022, Alexander Walter Bobiak, loving father of two daughters, passed away peacefully in his home at the age of 66. Alex was born on January 24, 1956, to Roman and Iwanna Bobiak in Toronto, Canada. Alex is survived by his two beloved daughters, Camille Irene Bobiak Serio and Ariana Elizabeth Bobiak, and his sister and brother-in-law, Anna and Ladimer Nagurney.
Alex graduated from the University of Rochester with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He completed his MBA at the University of Rhode Island in 1989. As a military contractor, Alex traveled to Australia, St Croix, and San Diego, to name a few destinations. His favorite career memories included riding submarines and testing at torpedo ranges.
Alex has been a resident of Aquidneck Island for over 40 years. His favorite activities on the island included walking Sachuest Point and Cliff Walk, and flying kites at Brenton Point.
Alex enjoyed listening to classical music and playing backgammon in his free time. Alex frequented the Newport and Middletown Public Libraries; he knew his library number by heart and joked he had read his way through the military sections of both libraries.
His favorite type of vacation was cruising on Carnival with his daughters. He loved sailing to the Southern Caribbean the most; his favorite island was St Kitts. Alex's favorite activity while cruising was trivia. As a member of MENSA, he never gave anyone he was competing against a fair chance.
Alex was a very spiritual man. His phrase of wisdom to impart on us all is the following: Joy is Spiritual.
His visitation is on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway, Newport, RI 02840 from 5-8pm.
