Alfred Thomas Amaral Middletown, RI - Alfred Thomas Amaral, 81, of 66 Seascape Avenue, Middletown, RI, died Friday, February 8, 2008 at John Clarke Health Care Center, Middletown, RI. He was the husband of the late Louisa Kaull Amaral. Born in Middletown, RI on November 26, 1926, he was the son of the late Antonio and Mary Duval Amaral.Al entered the US Navy in 1944 and faithfully served for three years. He wed Louisa Kaull while home on leave and they began their young family upon his return home. Al worked his entire life for the trucking business, first as a driver and later as a warehouse manager. He retired from PD Movers in Newport in 1987. Al also loved fishing and camping, often spending time at Whispering Pines Campground. He was also the self-proclaimed worlds best maker of sawdust, as a result of his lifelong hobby of woodworking. He and his wife Louisa loved to dance together, and were active in a dancing club that met at the Middletown Knights of Columbus. He is survived by a grandson Alfred T. Amaral III of Hopewell, VA, a granddaughter Amanda Holly Amaral of Hopewell, VA, his daughter in law Tringula Amaral of Hopewell, VA, two step granddaughters Kim Hunter and Owen Green, and a step great granddaughter Alyson Hunter. Al was also the beloved uncled to Ralph Peckham and his family of Portsmouth, and many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Alfred Thomas Amaral Jr, a brother Manuel Amaral, and three sisters Agnes Buchanan, Dorothy Burrows and Irene Terrier.His funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 13, at 8:00 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held Tuesday, February 12 from 4:00-7:00pm in the Memorial Funeral Home.
