Dempsey, Alma M. (King) of Portsmouth, RI, formerly of Walpole, MA passed away peacefully and comfortably surrounded by her family on July 11, 2018. Alma is survived by her husband of 52 years Clinton R. Dempsey. Cherished daughter of Thomas S. King and Alma E. (Blois) King, both deceased. Beloved mother of Carolyn E. Remick of Attleboro, MA, Kathleen A. Paquette and her husband Brian of Moorestown, NJ, and Richard K. Dempsey and his wife Mary of Pomfret, CT. Treasured grandmother of Andrew, Casey, Matthew, Kathleen, Christine, Evelyn, Christopher and Richard. Sister of Thomas F. King and his wife Margaret of Bonita Springs, FL, Lois A. Jennings and husband Craig (deceased) of Walpole, MA and Robert A. King (deceased) and his wife Donna F. of Walpole, MA. She also leaves behind many wonderful in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
Raised in Boston, MA, Alma was a 1960 graduate of Roslindale High School and attended Bryant and Stratton College. Her greatest joy was the love and care she had for her children and grandchildren. Also, Alma enjoyed gardening, beaches, sports, especially hockey, and her pet bulldog, who was always by her side. She was a kind woman who always saw the good in a person.
Alma will rest in repose from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 21, 2018 in The Parish of All Saints, Ashmont, 209 Ashmont Street, Dorchester, MA, 02124 followed by a Requiem Mass beginning at 11:00 AM. Internment in the Mount Hope Cemetery, 355 Walk Hill Street, Mattapan, Boston, MA will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Parish of All Saints, Ashmont or Saint John the Evangelist Church, 61 Poplar Street, Newport, RI 02480.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI 02840.
