Anies (Wahba) Khalfayan

Anies Khalfayan, age 85, of Newport, died Sunday, September 11, 2016, in Providence, RI. Mrs. Khalfayan was born January 18, 1931 in El-Obeid,Sudan . She is the daughter of the late Saba and the late Nectar (Karamanoukian) Wahba. She was the wife of the late Albert Khalfayan.Mrs. Khalfayan had worked as a seamstress. She was a devout Catholic and was a communicant of St. Josephs Church where she was also a member of their prayer group. She believed in helping others and volunteered her time at several local organizations. An avid cook, she was also very family oriented, doing anything and everything as long as it involved her family. She is survived by three sons, Elias Edward Khalfayan, MD and his wife Margaret Murphy, MD of Mercer Island, WA, Andre Khalfayan and his wife Elizabeth (Corrigan) Khalfayan of Portsmouth, RI, and Michael Khalfayan and his wife Elizabeth (Ludwig) Khalfayan of Saunderstown, RI, one sister, Alexandra Haddad of Pawtucket, RI and one brother, Victor Wahba of Toronto, Canada. She also has eight grandchildren, Michaela Khalfayan, Lauren Khalfayan, Jonathan Khalfayan, Max Khalfayan, Alex Khalfayan, Tyler Khalfayan, Kelsey Khalfayan and Morgan Khalfayan.Calling hours will be Thursday, September 15, 2016, from 4:00-7:00pm, at the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.Her funeral will be held on Friday, September 16, 2016, at 10:30am, in St. Josephs Church, Broadway and Mann Avenue, Newport.Burial will follow in St. Columba Cemetery, Brown's Lane, Middletown.Donations in her memory can be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Broadway and Mann Avenue, Newport, RI 02840.
