Anna M. Medeiros

Anna Medeiros, 89, of Newport, Rhode Island, passed away on June 11, 2018 at St. Clare Home in Newport, with her family by her side.Anna was born August 17, 1928 in Newport, RI to the late Manuel DeCosta and the late Margaret (Sullivan).Anna worked in the dietary department at Newport Hospital, when she decided to attend the Newport Hospital School of Nursing, where she graduated in 1975 as a Registered Nurse, she was the first grandmother to go through the program.She loved spending time with her family, they were the most important part of her life. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was considered their "Angel on Earth"The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care that was given to her by the loving staff at St. Clare home over the last few years of her life.Anna is survived by her children; Virginia Dobson and her husband Charles of Coventry, RI, Vincent Medeiros of Newport, RI, Margaret Elliott and her husband Edward of Newport, RI, Diane Larson and her husband Nels, of Newport, RI, and her brother Charles DeCosta and his wife Maryanne of Florida. She is also survived by her daughter in law Judy Medeiros of Florida, and her grandchildren, Jeffrey Dobson, Danielle Begen and her husband Joseph, Nicolas Medeiros, Jessica Elliott, Tara Ecenarro and her husband Nico, Sunny-Dae Larson and Lilly Larson. She is also survived by 3 great grandchildren, Milo, Luke and Zachary, and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband Manuel P. Medeiros. and her son Manuel V. MedeirosA Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday June 16,2018 at 9:30 am in Jesus Savior Church 509 Broadway in Newport.Burial will be private.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to St. Clare Home 309 Spring Street Newport, RI 02840, or to the Lewey Body Dementia Association, www.lbda.org.
