Anne Claudia Greene

Middletown, RI - Anne Claudia Greene, 91, of John Clarke Retirement Center, Middletown, RI, formerly of Bliss Road and Gibbs Avenue, Newport, RI, died on Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at the center. Born in Newport, RI on October 16, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Francis Ingraham and Estelle Bennett Greene.Anne was a 1937 graduate of Rogers High School and went on to attend Wheaton College and Catherine Gibbs. After school she started work for Corcoran, Peckham and Hayes as a legal secretary for 45 years. Anne was a volunteer for the Red Cross and with the Girl Scouts. She was a member of the Mosaic Club in her younger years and also St. Georges Episcopal Church. Anne loved animals you could say it was a pleasure of hers attending events at the Potter League and also the Norman Bird Sanctuary. She is survived by her cousin Carolyn McCallum and many friends. A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 2 at 10:00am in Newport Memorial Park, 56 Vaucluse Avenue, Middletown. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Robert Potter League for animals, PO Box 412, Newport, RI 02840.
