Barbara A. Rainey

Barbara Rainey, 70, of Portsmouth, RI died Tuesday, December 13, 2016, at home surrounded by her family. Barbara was born February 14, 1946, in Patterson, NJ. She was the daughter of Arefina (Giraldi) Frances Frank of Portsmouth, RI and the late Joseph Thomas Frank.Barbara is survived by her children, Meredith Rainey of Portsmouth, RI, Kip Rainey and his wife, Christina Rainey, of Portsmouth, RI and Megan Quiros of Delray Beach, FL. Barbara was blessed with six grandchildren: Mary, Barbara, John, and Josie Rainey; and Summer and Karma Quiros. Her passion was spending time with all of her children and grandchildren.Barbara graduated in 1968 from Montclair State University and subsequently worked as a speech therapist at schools in Waldwick and Ridgewood, NJ. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2016, 10 am at St. Luke's Church, 108 Washington Street, Barrington, RI. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made payable to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, c/o 'Team Babs'/Meredith Rainey 75 Park Avenue, Portsmouth, RI 02871. 'Team Babs' was formed in 2012, by Barbara's family to create awareness and raise money for the MS Society. The team participates annually in the MS Society's bike rides, cycling 150 miles over two days. In 2017, Team Babs will be participating in the MS Society's 'Cape Cod Getaway' ride in her memory.
