Barbara Jean (Curran) Philbrick, 90, of John Clarke Retirement Center in Middletown, passed away on November 23, 2018 in Newport Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Michael and Nora (Hurley) Curran, who ran Currans Lunch at Government Landing. Born in Newport, her family lived at 62 Prairie Avenue until she graduated from Rogers High School in 1945. Barbara went on to graduate from New Rochelle College in 1949
Passionate about any small dog that she met, including the ones she adopted from Potter League.
Barbara leaves her sons Drew Philbrick and his wife Terri of South Grafton, MA, William Philbrick and his wife Katerina of New Haven Connecticut, daughter-in-law Maria Sipala of Wethersfield Connecticut. Grandmother to William Philbrick and his wife Krystina, and Jami Philbrick.
Barbara was a lifelong friend of the late Judith (Nielson) Hagerty and sister of the lateJack Curran.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, December 1, 2018 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
