Barbara M. Shea

Barbara M. Shea, 80, of Middletown passed away peacefully on February 18, 2018. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Dorothy Hulatt.She is survived by her husband Donnell and their children Mark Shea and his wife Dhawn of Killington, VT, Kelly Shea of Newport, Maryann McQuade and her husband Steven of Middletown and Michael Shea and his wife Robyn of Middletown. She is also survived by her grandchildren David, Grace, Charlie, Maggie, Annie, and Jameson.Barbara loved spending time with her family. She was a popover connoisseur, could make a mean baked spaghetti and loved to play board games with her grandchildren. In the winter, Barbara looked forward to traveling to Sarasota, Florida to spend time at Siesta Key beach with family and friends. She enjoyed her daily trips to the Athletic Club and swimming with her water aerobics girls and their daily chats over coffee. Barbara was known for her quick whit and quirky sense of humor. Always a fashionista, her hats were her favorite accessory along with her mix-match colorful socks that she wore for the fun of it. Above all she was a lovable soul, who will be missed by all.Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2018, from 4:00pm-7:00pm, in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 23, 2018, at 10:30am, in St. Lucy's Catholic Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown.In Barbaras honor, donations can be made to the Edward King House where she was a member, 35 King Street, Newport, RI 02840.
