Barbara N. Clarke Angel, 92, of Blenheim-Newport and Bay Ridge Drive, Middletown, RI , formerly 15 Everett Street, Newport, died Friday, April 10, 2009 at Village House Nursing Rehabiltation Center, Newport, RI. She was the wife of the late Alfred L. Angel.Born in Newport, RI on September 22, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Charles Leslie and Lydia Barlow Clarke.She is survived by her loving family: daughter Elaine and her husband Anthony Ruggiero; daughter, Linda and her husband Thomas Conheeny; daughter Claudia and her husband Jay Miranda; her seven grandchildren: Matthew Ruggiero, Adam and Jared Conheeny, Taryn Conheeny Hurd, Jason, Justin, and Jeremy Miranda; her eleven great-grandchildren: Olivia and Maya Ruggiero; Adeleine, Anna and Adam Conheeny, Jr.; Elise, Carson and Tristan Conheeny; John Jr., Thomas and Fallon Angel Hurd; her sister, Avis Bachus; sister-in-law Barbara Angel and many nieces and nephews.She was the sister of the late Norma Stohlberg, Frederick Clarke and grandmother of the late Craig Ruggiero. Barbara was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Newport for 72 years. She served as a Deacon and took part in many other church activities. She belonged to the AARP, the King Senior Center and the Newport Hospital Auxiliary Board. She lived a full life, travelling to Europe and around the world.She delighted in being with her family and loved cooking, reading, opera and classical music.Calling hours will be held Monday, April 20, 2009 from 4-8 pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.Her funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at 9 am from the funeral home, with a service at 10 am in the First Presbyterian Church, Broadway Everett Street, Newport, RI. Burial will be in Island Annex Cemetery, Newport.In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, RI Chapter, 205 Hallene Rd., Suite 209, Warwick, RI 02886.
