Bertha R. Gagnon

Bertha R. Gagnon, 97, of Middletown, formerly of Bristol, Portsmouth, and Woonsocket, RI, passed away on February 24, 2025. She was the wife of the late Lawrence Gagnon.

Born in Woonsocket, RI, she was the daughter of the late Antoine and Germaine (Pepin) Belanger.

Her early years included time as a stitcher and factory worker, where her strong work ethic laid the foundation for her future role as a loving mother and grandmother. Her passion for sewing brought her immense joy as she thrived in her line of work; she transformed fabrics into beautiful creations that brought comfort and warmth to her. Bertha touched the lives of those around her, finding joy in the simple pleasures of life.

Bertha was a devoted homemaker who found joy in creating a loving home for her family. She was known for her meticulous attention to detail and her love for cleaning her home, ensuring that her house was not only a place of refuge but also a reflection of her nurturing spirit. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her infectious laugh and wonderful sense of humor, especially as she aged.

Bertha greatly enjoyed playing bingo, spending countless hours at the Senior Center in Woonsocket and enjoying friendly card games with friends and family. She also enjoyed her time at the John Clarke Nursing Home, where she created meaningful connections and embraced her community.

Bertha is survived by her daughter; Paulette G. La Parle and husband Eugene Jr., of Bristol, her sister; Jeannette Morazzini, of Ashland, MA, and her granddaughter; Leanne La Parle-Wicks and husband Dylan, of Bristol.

In addition to her parents and husband, Bertha is preceded in death by her son, Steven Gagnon, and her siblings, Paul Belanger, Gertrude Paquin, Lillian Deragan, Lucille Demers, and Jacqueline Harpin.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.

Burial will be private.
