Brenda J Gonsalves

Brenda Gonsalves, a longtime resident of Newport, Rhode Island, passed away on August 29, 2026, following an extended illness. She was 76 years old.

Brenda was born on September 9, 1949, at Saint Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, Massachusetts. She made Newport her home for many years and developed lasting friendships within the community.

Brenda was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Alicia Gonsalves, who passed away three years ago. She is survived by her two brothers, Lawrence Green of San Diego, California, and Otis Green of Sacramento, California.

Brenda will also be deeply missed by her close friends, including Brenda Boyd and Donna Morrison, as well as the many others whose friendship and companionship she enjoyed throughout her life in Newport.

An avid sports fan, Brenda especially loved professional tennis and was a devoted fan of Serena and Venus Williams. During football season, her loyalty belonged to the New York Giants.

Those who knew Brenda will remember the life she made for herself in Newport, the friendships she developed over the years, and the people and interests that brought her happiness.

In accordance with Brenda's wishes, she will be cremated, and no funeral or memorial service will be held.

Her family and friends will remember Brenda in their own ways and carry their memories of her with them.
