Brigid M. Walsh

Brigid M. Walsh of Portsmouth, RI, departed this life on April 21, 2026, at the age of 80. Brigid was born on July 21,1945, in Ireland and came to the United States at the age of 23. She was the youngest of eleven children and, true to her Irish heritage, embodied a unique blend of toughness and kindness.

Brigid was a wonderful partner to John Mello for over 20 years, with whom she shared countless happy moments, and she maintained a close relationship with his mother, Mary, whom she adored. Brigid also enjoyed spending time with John's children and grandchildren.

As a dedicated nanny, Brigid cared for countless children, showcasing her unwavering love and patience. Her honesty and strong moral character defined her interactions, and she was known for her meticulous home.

Brigid will be remembered not only for her unwavering strength and kindness but also for the love she shared with those around her, including her beloved dachshund, Rosie, who was a loyal companion throughout her life.

Calling Hours will be held at Connors Funeral Home found at 55 West Main Road in Portsmouth, RI, on Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 10:30am-12:30pm. A Funeral service will be in the same location at 12:30pm. The burial will immediately follow at Newport Memorial Park found at 123 Howland Avenue in Middletown, RI.

Brigid was preceded in death by her first and loving husband, Joseph Walsh.
