Ernest "Bud" W. Ritchie III

Ernest W. Ritchie III passed away on 5/3/2025 from leukemia.

Ernest W. Ritchie III, better known as "Bud" was born in Newport RI to Mary (Gallagher) and Ernest W. Ritchie II better known as "Duke".

Bud was a man of tremendous character and he was not scared to sacrifice for a belief or moral. Bud had many professional roles including teacher, quahogger, landscaper and software engineer. Bud had a love for sports and competition and always gave his maximum effort. In addition to his love for sports Bud loved math, he would often go through and complete math textbooks for fun. Anyone who knew Bud also knew his love and affinity for dogs especially Boxers, in fact most of Bud's decisions, daily schedules, house furnishings, grocery lists ect ect was influenced by his Boxers needs and preferences. The love of sports, math and boxers was nothing compared to the love for his family. Dad was an unbelievable provider and set a great example of how to be a humble leader and to lead by example.

Bud is preceded in death by his brother Gary and parents Mary and Duke. Bud leaves behind many cousins and nieces including Melissa and Sasha as well as his nephew Sergio. Bud also leaves behind his daughter Jane, son in law Andrew and son Kevin as well as his daughter in law Angela. He leaves behind four wonderful grandchildren Lily, Conner, Patrick, and Grace. He also leaves behind his princess who was by his side the entire time despite her own health issues, Bambi.
