Carol Ann Stewart (Volpone), 77, of Newport, RI passed away on January 18th, 2026.

She was born in Jersey City, NJ, and as a military child moved until settling in Rhode Island shortly after high school. Carol remained a "Jersey Girl" at heart.

Carol dedicated 42 years as an Education Technician at the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island where she was respected for her professionalism and reliability. Carol spent over 30 years bartending at the VFW Post 4487 where she built lasting friendships and supported her community.

Later she went on to share her talents as a bartender at Woodhookers in Middletown, RI and ultimately fulfilled her dream of bar ownership by purchasing Woody's Tavern. Her presence behind the bar was more than a job - it was a way for her to connect with her customers. Carol was a member of the Newport Elks and FOP of Middletown.

Carol loved spending time at the casino and traveling to see her cherished granddaughters in Virginia. Nana was an instrumental part of their lives and was the best Nana ever. Her girls brought her immeasurable pride and joy.

Carol is survived by her loving daughter Lyndsey and her husband Jamie Hebert and her beloved grand-daughters Gracelyn and Isabel, her son Craig Costa, her step-sister Cynthia Lemieux and step-brother Gary Lamphere. Carol was preceded in death by her mother Geraldine Lamphere, step-father William Lamphere, father Lawrence Volpone and ex- husband Joseph F. Stewart. In her later years, she shared her home with a friend. She was patient, giving and truly loved by all who knew her.

Carol leaves behind a legacy of dedication, generosity and unwavering love for her family and community. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
