Middletown, RI - Carolyn S. Williamson, 79, of 6 Bailey Terrace, Middletown, RI, died Thursday, January 1, 2009, at Forest Farm Health Care Center, Middletown, RI. She was the wife of the late Edward I. Williamson, Sr.Born in Swans Island, ME, on March 14, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Roscoe and Mildred Stockbridge Kent.Mrs. Williamson was a member of the former St. Georges Episcopal Church, where she was an active volunteer, serving on the Vestry and as Assistant Treasurer for many years. She is now a member at St. Marys Episcopal Church in Portsmouth. Carolyn was also a member of the Anasazi group of women at the Church. Carolyn was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She is survived by four sons, Edward I. Williamson, Jr. of Middletown, RI, Martin K. Williamson and his wife Barbara of Portsmouth, RI, Kenneth J. Williamson of Middletown, RI, and Charles D. Williamson and his wife Heather of Tiverton, RI; a daughter Elaine Forsythe and her husband Dean of Middletown, RI; eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; as well as her sister Maxine Moulton of Grey, ME.She is preceded in death by her sister Margaret Kent. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, January 8, at 11:00 am in St. Marys Episcopal Church, 324 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be private.Calling hours will be held Wednesday, January 7, from 6-8 in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Memorial donations may be made to the St. Marys Episcopal Church Capital Campaign, 324 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871.
