Catherine C. McGill

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Catherine C. McGill, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who left this world on June 12, 2025, at the age of 90. She was the wife of the late Arthur A. McGill Jr.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Catherine (NaHill) Auerweck. Catherine graced us with her presence, warmth, and intelligence, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. Catherine was a trailblazer, graduating as valedictorian of her class at Salve Regina University in 1988. Her remarkable career as a systems analyst at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center showcased her commitment to serving her country, and her analytical mind contributed greatly to the field of defense.

Catherine is survived by her children; Patricia McGill, of Portsmouth, RI, James (Patricia) McGill, of Latham, NY, Joan (Richard) Armada, of Cranston, RI, her son-in-law, Michael Butler, of Greenville, RI, her grandchildren; Patrick (Taryn) Butler, Catherine (Daniel) TenBroek, Rachel Armada, Jeremy Armada, and great-grandchildren; John Butler, Edward Butler. Catherine also leaves many beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Catherine is preceded in death by her daughter, Jean Butler.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM at Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, Rhode Island.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at 10:00am in St. Anthony's Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will continue in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, RI.
