Celia Weiss (Coggeshall) Cook 94, formerly of Oliphant Lane, Middletown died April 02, 2018 at the Grand Islander Healthcare Center in Middletown.She was the wife of the late Bernard T Cook.Born in Newport on February 11, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Carl E Weiss and Alice (Coggeshall) Weiss. Mrs. Cook is preceded in death by her siblings Carl E Weiss Jr, John R Weiss, and Alice (Weiss) Freeman. She is survived by her sister, Anna (Weiss) Dewick of CT.Mrs Cook was a 1941 graduate of Rogers High School. She was a former New England Telephone Operator and worked as a seamstress at Aquidneck Fabrics in Middletown and Wilby's on Broadway in Newport.Mrs. Cook was a devout member of the Church of the Holy Cross and an active member of the Ladies Guild in Middletown. She loved to travel. Some of her travels included Europe, the Appalachian Mountains, New England, Virginia, California and Louisiana. She made friends wherever she went. Thank you to all she befriended at the Newport Hospital Cardiac Rehab, Bishop's Diner and all the caretakers at the Grand Islander and Visiting Nurses Home and Hospice Care of Portsmouth.She is survived by her children: B. Thomas Cook Jr of Middletown, Jay C.Cook and his wife Maureen of Middletown, Her grandchildren: Jennifer (Cook) Mello and her husband Stephen Mello, Jay Cook Jr and his wife Lorna, Rebecca Cook, Caleb Cook and partner Caitlin Gaffney, Ethan Cook and his wife Melanie, Colby Cook and his wife Angela.Her Great Grandchildren: Mason, Maddison, Camden, Abigail, Caleigh, Oliver and Ainsley, and also her beloved niece, Linda (Freeman) Sami.A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, April 9, 2018 at 11:00 am in Church of the Holy Cross, 1439 West Main Rd, Middletown RI.
