Charles "Charlie" John Michael, 84, of Middletown, RI, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, August 23, 2016.He was the husband of Agnes (Botelho) Michael.Born in Newport, RI, on March 20, 1932, he was the son of the late John C. and Catherine (Bozas) Michael, natives of Skiathos, Greece.Mr. Michael was self-employed, a graduate of Rogers High School in Newport, RI and a Veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed taking photographs, listening to music, and most of all loved spending time with his grandchildren.Besides the love of his life, Aggie, married 60 years, he is survived by his daughter, Catherine Michael and husband Frank Flaherty, daughter Cynthia and husband Robert Kendall and their children Evan and Matthew, Christina and husband Keith Haines and their children Brittany and Cobi.He was the brother of the late Arthur Michael, James Michael, and Despena Papas.Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2016, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Burial will be private.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Visiting Nurses of Newport and Bristol Counties, Hospice Care Program, 1184 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871.
