Charles H. Breen

CDR Charles H. Breen, USN (Ret), age 62, of Fall River, MA, died Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, RI, following an aggressive battle with Lymphoma. Chuck was born August 5, 1955, in Lowell, MA, the son of the late Raymond E. and Gertrude A. (Paul) Breen. CDR Breen was a Naval Academy graduate class of 1977. He achieved numerous service medals and a Masters degree in the Navy throughout his 24 years of service. Following his retirement, he served as civilian at the Naval War College in Newport, RI. In his spare time, he was an avid Boston sports fan and animal lover, who will greatly miss his two dogs, Jack and Skylar.He is survived by his daughter, Melissa Breen Moniz, her husband Jeffrey, and his son, Matthew Ray Breen, all of Newport, RI; his sister, Dorothy A. Breen and three brothers, John Mitch Breen, his wife Kelly, Paul Breen, and Robert Breen and his wife Marlene, as well as a sister-in-law, Rosemary Breen, several nieces and nephews, and one grandchild, Maxton Moniz.He was also the brother of the late Ray "Butch" Breen and Joseph P. Breen.A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Church, Queen Ann Square, Newport, RI.
