Claire (Paquin) Hebert, a beloved member of the community known for her compassionate nature and commitment to helping others, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Atria Assisting Living in East Greenwich, RI. Born on March 20, 1941, in Pawtucket, RI, Claire was a cherished wife, mother, sister, and friend.
Claire dedicated her life to helping others after obtaining her Bachelors Degree from URI and a Master's Degree in Holistic Counseling from Salve Regina. She was passionate about nurturing the well-being of individuals and empowering them to lead fulfilling lives. She worked for several years as the campus minister at URI Continuing Education School, and helped others as a Mid-Life Directions Consultant for many years leading workshops and retreats at churches and retreat centers throughout RI and beyond.
This expertise also supported the mission of Amos House, where Claire selflessly devoted her time and talents over two decades. She started as a volunteer at Amos House, a local organization dedicated to supporting the homeless and individuals struggling with addiction, and later worked as a staff member and served on the Board of Directors. Her commitment to serving those in need deeply touched the lives of those she encountered, leaving a lasting impact within the community.
Within the spiritual realm, Claire found solace and purpose as an active member of the St. Mary's Episcopal Church community. She actively participated in church activities and events, embodying the principles of faith, compassion, and love. She participated with a team of church members to provide women's retreats.
Throughout her life, Claire held a special place in her heart for family. Her home was always the center of family activity, hosting holidays and all special occasions for decades.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, George Hebert, daughter-in-law Amy Hebert, her brothers David and Peter Paquin and sister Mary Ann Paquin.
She is survived by her two sons, Michael Hebert and his partner Lynne Younger of Naples, FL and David Hebert of Bolivia, NC. Claire was also a cherished sister to Susan White (Richard) of Warwick, Denise Paquin of Cranston, Edward Paquin (Patricia) of Missouri City, TX, and Marc Paquin (Brenda) of Leland, NC. She also leaves her sister-in-law Jerry Paquin of South Kingstown and a dear cousin Bill MacKinlay. Her family extends with the next generation, several cousins and nieces and nephews, including Stephanie Grady, Jeffrey White, Samuel Paquin, Matthew Paquin, Shelly Anthony, Daniel Paquin, and Lauren Paquin.
Claire will be remembered for her kind and nurturing spirit, her unwavering dedication to helping others, and her unwavering faith. Her legacy will continue to inspire and touch the hearts of all those she so deeply cared for.
A Celebration of Life service to honor Claire's life will be held at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 324 East Main Rd, Portsmouth on Friday, June 19, 2026 at 11am. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Churchyard.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Claire's memory to either Amos House 460 Pine St, Providence, RI 02907 or St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 324 East Main Road, Portsmouth RI 02871, both are organizations that were dear to her heart.
Claire P. Hebert will forever remain in our hearts, a source of inspiration and a beacon of love. May she find eternal peace in the embrace of her Creator.
