Claude Hubert "Corky" Carlile Jr

Claude Hubert "Corky" Carlile Jr. died suddenly on Friday May 6th during hospitalization for pneumonia. Corky was born on January 8th, 1956 in Cristobal, Canal Zone, Panama. He was a resident of Tiverton, RI for most of his life and graduated from Tiverton High School in 1974 and from New England College in 1978. He was the only child of Claude Hubert Carlile Sr. and Mary Elvira (Carbonara) Carlile.Corky's parents had predeceased him. He is survived by his wife, Christine Noel (Potts) Carlile, and their children Jessica Ryan James and her husband, Michael Andrew James of Portsmouth, RI, Matthew David Carlile of Tiverton, RI, and Stephanie Nicole Carlile of Little Compton, RI. His grandchildren, who were the light of his life, are Giovanna Rae Gramolini, Lucy Deborah James, and Sylas David Carlile. Corky loved living in Rhode Island. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and a long time member of the Tiverton Rod and Gun Club. He greatly enjoyed shooting archery and firearms, spending time at his reloading bench and was a strong advocate for gun safety. He also loved being on the water in his boat and "rafting" with friends. Most of all, he treasured spending time with his family. He worked for most of his career at the James L. Maher Center serving the needs of others. Corky was widely known as a kindhearted person who always had a smile on his face.Calling hours will be held on Monday, May 16, 2016 from 4-7 pm in Connors Funeral Home, 55 W Main Road, Portsmouth. His funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at 11:00 AM in Connors Funeral Home with the burial to follow at Pocasset Hill Cemetery, Tiverton, RI.In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your own favorite charity in his memory.
