It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cornelia E. Albertus, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend. Cornelia, known affectionately as "Connie," was born on June 10, 1927, in Arlington, Iowa, and left us peacefully on October 24, 2025, at the age of 98. She lived a rich and fulfilling life, spending her later years in Middletown, Rhode Island, where she touched the lives of many.
Connie dedicated herself to education for over 30 years as a beloved second-grade teacher, inspiring countless young minds with her kindness, patience, and joy for learning. In addition to her teaching career, she was a devoted pastor's wife who attended church faithfully, embodying her strong faith and commitment to her community. Connie was married to Willard "Bill" Albertus for 65 wonderful years, sharing a life filled with laughter and smiles with her late husband.
As a social butterfly at John Clarke Senior Living, Connie brought joy to everyone around her. She loved sports of all kinds, from horse racing to NASCAR, and was an active member of the walking club, where she cherished the friendships she built. Her passion for fitness extended to yoga, which she loved and practiced regularly.
Above all, Connie treasured her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother. Her grandchildren, Matthew Dragone and Sara Fullerton, along with her great-grandchildren, Patrick and Nathan Fullerton, were the lights of her life. A positive force of nature, Connie had an unparalleled ability to make others smile and encouraged everyone to not sweat the small stuff.
Connie is survived by her children, Jered W. Albertus and his wife, Patricia of New York, and Joanna B. Dragone and her husband David of Middletown. She will also be missed by her grandchildren, Matthew Dragone and his partner Stephanie Joslyn, Sara Fullerton and her husband Kyle Fullerton, and her great grandchildren, Patrick and Nathan Fullerton.
Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Albertus, her parents, Harold and Bernice Freeseman, and her sister, Audrey Menendez.
