Daniel Allen Gower Middletown, RI - Daniel Allen Gower, 59, of 38 Paquin Place, Middletown, RI, died Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at his home after a long illness surrounded by his family . He was the husband of the late Susan J. Mello Gower. Born in Cuba, NY on May 28, 1949, he was the son of the late William and Alice Cottrell Gower.Mr. Gower enjoyed being with his children and family along with his cats Tigger Bella.Mr. Gower worked as a mechanic in 1972 in Newport until he later opened Aristo Cab Company from 1984 to 1991. He then worked at the Newport Naval Base in the Navy Gally as a part time employee as he started his landscape business American Building and Ground Maintenance until 2000 when he then returned to the Navy Base until 2004. Dan also drove for Chartwells Dining Services delivering food to their customers. He is survived by his daughters Jillian Viveiros and her husband Robert of Middletown, RI and Sharon St. Rock and her husband Brian of Andover, CT. and his son Daniel Gower Jr. and his partner Mylene del Pilar of Middletown, RI, He also leaves his former wife Linda Gower of Warren, RI. , and one granddaughter Kayla Viveiros of Middletown, RI His funeral will be held on Monday, December 29, 2008 at 11:00 from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, Rhode Island. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held Sunday, from 4-7pm in the Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.
