Darlene Faria, 61, of Newport, Rhode Island, died on August 17, 2025. She was the wife of the late Scott Poling. Born in Fall River, MA on April 18, 1964, She was the daughter of the late William and Natalie Helpen.

Darlene was a talented nurse and never lost her faith even when setbacks changed her life. She graduated from Diman Vocational Technical High School in Fall River and continued her education with a Nursing Degree. She had many rewarding years working as a nurse, both in nursing home settings and at the Newport Navy Base. She always enjoyed a ride on her motorcycle, and cherished the rides along the ocean in Newport. She took up karate many years ago and progressed to earn her Brown Belt. She was also a great cook, and found great joy when she and Scott would get the family together for a cookout. She always enjoyed a good game of cards, a trip to the slots, or a quiet afternoon in the garden. In the last several years, she found great strength reading the bible every day.

Darlene is survived by her children: Alexis Poling and Brandon Poling both of Newport, and Tyler Catalan of TN, and a grandson Alonzo. She also leaves her sisters Natalie Darling of Lynchburg, VA, Susan Lajoie of Fall River, Debbie Snyder of Greenville, VA, Linda Hathaway of Fall River, Cindy Helpen of Pittsfield, MA, an aunt Pauline Almeida of Fall River, and many nieces and nephews.

Darlene is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Scott Poling.

Visiting hours will be held in the near future.
