Deborah Hagensen, 95, of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, died on January 14, 2026. She was the wife of the late Carl H. Hagensen. Born in Fall River, MA on March 25, 1930. She was the daughter of the late Nathaniel and Martha (Jackson) Chase.
Deborah has a graceful way about her. Most everyone who met her became a friend. While raising her family in Portsmouth, she was active in supporting the community through the Little League and Girl Scouts, or attending Portsmouth United Methodist Church. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper for the Sears store in Middletown, retiring in 1992. In her quiet times, she enjoyed knitting and reading, and the occasional exercise class at the Portsmouth Senior Center.
Deborah is survived by her children; Sue Braz of Tiverton, Kris Mathias of Tiverton and Peter Hagensen and his wife Sheila of Portsmouth. She also leaves her 5 beloved grandchildren, Alyssa Silvia, Gregory Mathias, Eric Mathias (Hayley), Timothy Braz (Meredith), and Christian Hagensen, as well as four beautiful great grandchildren.
Deborah is preceded in death by her husband Carl Hagensen; her parents, two brothers, Nathaniel and John Chase; and a sister Jane Demant.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, January 22 from 4:00-7:00pm in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth. A prayer service will be held at 6:30pm, led by Pastor Yuseong Kim.
