Delbert Dean DeForest, 89, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, family, service, and quiet strength.

Del was born on October 9, 1936, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Manuel and Lucille DeForest. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1958 and was honorably discharged, receiving the Good Conduct Medal in recognition of his faithful service. A true American patriot, Del carried a deep love and respect for his country throughout his life.

Following his military service, Del earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Indiana Institute of Technology. He enjoyed a distinguished 40-year career as a software and systems engineer.

Above all, Del's greatest joy was his family. Sunday mornings spent together became a treasured tradition. Christmas Eve was his favorite holiday, and for more than forty years he lovingly hosted family gatherings.

Del was a devoted student of the Bible and found great comfort and purpose in his faith.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Annette DeForest; his sons Wade DeForest and Arthur Manuel, his son-in-law, Joseph Dutra and his brothers, Alan DeForest and Richard DeForest.

He is survived by his daughters, Christine Lepore (Marcus) and Laura Dutra; his daughter-in-law, MaryBeth Manuel; his grandchildren, Kevin Manuel, Lauren Vargas (Nicholas), and Derek Lepore (Payton); his brother, Alvin DeForest; his sister, Bonnie; and many extended family members and dear friends.

A private memorial service will be held for immediate family and friends. Military honors will be rendered by the United States Air Force in grateful recognition of Del's honorable and faithful service to his country.

Though he will be deeply missed, his family will forever cherish the lessons he taught, the traditions he created, and the steadfast faith and love that defined his life.
