Delphine Elizabeth "Liz" (Moore) Davis

Delphine Elizabeth "Liz" (Moore) Davis, age 67, of Portsmouth died Friday, December 9, 2016, at the Miriam Hospital. Liz was born on June 29, 1949, in Newport, RI, the daughter of the late Thomas and the late Margaret (Furtado) Moore. She was the wife of Robert Davis for 45 years.Liz loved her work and was involved in critical care for 46 years, first at the Newport Hospital, and more recently at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She attended Nursing School at both Truesdale and Salve Regina, and obtained her Masters Degree in Nurse Practitioner from UMass Dartmouth. She was a former Nurse of the Year at Newport Hospital and was a member of Sigma Theta Tau International.Besides her husband, Robert, she is survived by her son: Kevin Davis and his wife Amanda of Portsmouth, RI; her sisters: Katherine Moore of Middletown, and Margaret Lieb and her husband Robert of NY; her brother: Thomas Moore and his wife Nancy of Middletown; her brother in law, Richard Davis of FL; her sister in law, Margaret Garcia of AZ, and many nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by her son, Michael Thomas Davis, her brother in law, James Davis, and her brother in law, Joseph Davis.Liz never wanted anyone to make a fuss, but we will tell you that she loved her family, and was caretaker for any of us in need.She loved to cook. Her various casseroles and desserts were a welcome part of our holiday gatherings. Liz always surpassed us in love and generosity.Christmas was her favorite time of year, spoiling all of us with food and great gifts.
