Small but mighty, Denise Henshaw had a larger-than-life personality and a feisty spirit that made her truly unforgettable. With a sparkle in her eye and a cheeky smile, she had a way of keeping everyone around her on their toes. A practical joker at heart, she loved making people laugh and was never one to shy away from a little mischief. She passed away Friday, October 23, 2026, she was 68 years old.
Denise had a remarkable ear for music and found great joy in listening to her favorite songs. One of her favorite activities was attending her weekly Zumba classes at Common Fence Point, where she could enjoy music and movement. She also enjoyed watching movies, especially horror films and comedies, and expressing her creativity through drawing and crafts. She looked forward to outings and adventures and always enjoyed a Diet Coke. Blessed with a memory like an elephant, Denise had an incredible ability to remember people, places, and moments, often surprising those around her with just how much she recalled.
For more than 20 years, Denise was part of the Looking Upwards community, where she formed meaningful connections and shared her unmistakable personality with those around her. The friendships and relationships she developed over the years became an important part of her life. Her family is grateful to the dedicated staff and caregivers who provided her with companionship, kindness, and care throughout those years.
Above all, Denise was deeply loved by her family, who cherished her spirited personality, her sense of humor, and the special place she held in their hearts.
Denise is survived by her loving brothers, Daniel Henshaw and his wife, Lisa Gurney, and Jeffrey Henshaw, whose wife, Paulette Henshaw, predeceased her. She also leaves behind her beloved nieces and nephews, Peter, Molly, Randy, Cheryl, Keith, Tara, Stacey, Tommy, Jillian, Marty, and Cindy.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, October 30, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 6:30 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will be private.
Though small in stature, Denise leaves behind an enormous presence in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her mischievous smile, unforgettable spirit, and the laughter she inspired will be remembered always.
