Deo Velasco

Deo Velasco, 96, of Middletown died on Sunday, May 20, 2018, at the Grand Islander Nursing Home in Middletown.He was the husband of Tita M. (Cardinoza) Velasco.Born on March 27, 1922 in Abanon, San Carlos City, Pangasinan, Philippines, he was the son of the late Francisco and Maria (Rule) Velasco. After serving 24 years in the US Navy, including the Korean War, he retired and made Middletown, RI his home. In his spare time, he enjoyed to fish, work in his garden and yard, and spend time with his neighbors and friends. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.Besides his wife of 66 years, he is survived by his children, Romeo Velasco and his wife, Carol of Middletown, RI, Roberto Velasco and his wife Barbara of Bellevue, WA and Rebecca Velasco of Newport, RI, his sisters Maxima Garcia and Purita Rosario of the Philippines, four grandchildren Courtney (Velasco) Huber, Taylor Velasco, Aidan Velasco, Kyle Velasco and four great grandchildren.He was the father of the late Ruth (Velasco) Carbone.His funeral will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at 10:00am, in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown.Burial with military honors will be in St. Columba Cemetery, Browns Lane, Middletown.The family would like to give a sincere thank you to all the staff at the Grand Islander for their loving and caring for our Dad.
