Dolores (Evans)Santos-Coull, 1932 - 2025
Dolores (Evans) Santos-Coull's body and mind peacefully joined our Heavenly Father on July 24, 2025, at the age of 93.
Born to Michael and Anna (Tomchick) Evans, Dolores was raised with a strong sense of faith, family, and resilience. She was predeceased by her beloved parents, her brother Donald Evans, and two cherished husbands-James B. Santos, whom she married in 1970 and shared a loving life with until his passing in 1995, and Ian Coull, her devoted husband of over 22 wonderful years.
Dolores was the proud and loving mother of: Deborah Rudicil (Phil), Clara McCormick (Rosie Moher), Colleen McBride (Kevin), and Dolores Bettencourt (Larry). Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren: Christopher Santos (Kelly), Shannon Emerzian (Matthew), Michaela Santos (Adam Courser), Kelley Strycharz (Christopher), and Logan Bizier (Nicholas), and her treasured great-grandchildren: Christopher Jr. and Roman Santos, Cacimar Vega, Nicholas and Luke Bizier, and Nolan Strycharz.
Dolores began her journey as a young mother and, in the late 1960s, entered the workforce to support her family as a single parent. Through resilience and determination, she went on to successfully operate several businesses before enjoying a well-deserved retirement. She took great pride in being the first manager of Second Beach Campground in Middletown, RI.
Retirement led Dolores to the warm shores of Florida-a place that truly resonated with her spirit. She found happiness in the ocean breeze, sunny days, and a vibrant community where she flourished. A gifted musician, Dolores was a talented pianist and vocalist who shared her love of music as a member of the choir at Epiphany Cathedral Catholic Church in Venice, FL.
Dolores lived with passion and a strong sense of purpose. She had a love for travel, a competitive spirit on the golf course-where she earned championship titles-and a flair for adventure that made trips to the casino all the more exciting. Always generous with her time, she was quick to offer help whenever it was needed. A talented pool player, she founded a women's league called Dee's Q-Tees, which still thrives today at Japanese Gardens in Venice, Florida. She also led water aerobics classes in her community, inspiring others with her enthusiasm and uplifting presence.
Dolores approached life with optimism, always believing her glass was never "half-empty" but "always full." She was an inspiration to those around her-proving time and again where others saw limits, she saw possibility.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to her devoted caregiver, Cienna, for the kindness, patience, and loving care she provided during Dolores's final year. They also deeply appreciate the compassionate staff at John Clarke and the hospice team from Visiting Nurse Home and Hospice, whose gentle support and dedication brought comfort and dignity to both Dolores and her loved ones in her final days.
Dolores will be remembered for her strength, her joyful laughter, her compassion, and the warmth she so generously shared with others. Her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her.
While funeral services will be private, those wishing to honor her memory are encouraged to make a donation to the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org or a charity of your choice.
