Donald F. Shea

Donald F. Shea, 89, of Tiverton, RI, formerly of Brockton, MA, passed away on May 30, 2025, in the Catholic Memorial Nursing Center in Fall River. He was the husband of Marjorie F. (Medeiros) Shea, and of the late Pauline (Decelle) Shea.

Born in Dorchester, MA, and raised in Quincy, he was the son of the late James and Florence (Reynolds) Shea. Donald was one of 15 siblings, a testament to the strong family ties that defined his life.

He dedicated 30 years to a fulfilling career as an assembly line worker at General Motors, further sharing his talents at Viti Motors, where his hearty laugh and charming demeanor left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to work alongside him. He cherished walks on the beach with his dog, enjoyed travel, and was a car enthusiast, often sharing his passion for automobiles with family and friends.

A devout member of St. Christopher's Catholic Church, Donald served as a Eucharistic Minister, embodying the spirit of service and love he extended to everyone he met. He turned a simple hobby into a passion as a videographer, capturing moments that would be cherished for generations. His love of travel opened his heart to new experiences, but nothing compared to the joy he found in spending time with his beloved family. Donald will be remembered not only for his kindness and charming personality, but also for bringing joy to those around him through his keen sense of humor and love for making others laugh.

Donald is survived by his wife Marjorie, his children; Daniel (Elaine) Shea, of Easton, MA, Joyce Driscoll, of Wrentham, MA, Kathleen (Dan) McGee, of Raynham, MA, Linda (Doug) Priest, of Watervliet, NY, Erin (Craig) Smith, of Stoughton, MA, Eileen (Bart) Cerce, of Taunton MA, his stepdaughter; Susan Rogers, of Tiverton, his sisters; Karen Miller, of Hanover, MA, Kathleen Froio, of Scituate, MA, his 18 grandchildren; Daniel Shea Jr., James Shea, Kevin Shea, Kerri Basques, Joseph Capuzzo, David Capuzzo, Andrew Wood, Jessica Coviello, Donald Priest, Eric Priest, Kiley Smith, Natalie Smith, Bridget Smith, Emily Clark, Peter Cerce, Wallace Swanbeck, Jamie Swanbeck, and Samantha Rogers, 25 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline Shea, his daughter, Colleen Shea Wood, and his siblings, Jacqueline Shea, James Shea Jr., Ruth Jensen, Richard Shea, Rita Jensen, William Shea, Robert Shea, Florence Shea, Irene Cadman, Janice Birrittieri, Kevin Shea, and Maureen Downing.

The Shea Family extends their sincere appreciation to the staff at the Catholic Memorial Nursing Center, as well as to the Tiverton Fire and Rescue, and Southcoast Hospice, for the loving care shown to Donald.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025, from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Rd, Portsmouth, RI.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 10:00 AM in St. Christopher's Catholic Church, 1554 Main Rd, Tiverton, RI.

Burial will continue at St. Joseph Cemetery, 475 E. Brittania St, Taunton, MA.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
