Doris Donovan

Doris L. Donovan, 80 of Middletown, RI passed away peacefully on January 6, 2019, at the Grand Islander Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family. Doris was born August 16, 1938, in Newport, RI. Doris is predeceased by her father, John F. Sant, her mother, Elizabeth B. Sant. and brother William C. Sant.

Doris was married to Herbert S. Donovan for 58 years. Doris graduated from Rogers High School and then went on to receive her Associates Degree from Mt. Ida College, in Newton, MA. Doris worked for years at Raytheon until her retirement in 1996. What brought Doris the most joy was spending her days with her beloved family and life-long friends in The Fifth Ward, The Point and, most especially, in the famous semi-circle on Third Beach.

Doris is survived by her husband Herbert, her daughters Tracy OMalley and Elizabeth A. Donovan, both, of Middletown, RI, and her son Brian P. Donovan and his wife Mary C. Donovan of Stamford, CT. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Shawn M. OMalley, Taylor E. OMalley, Brian P. Donovan, Jr., Jack P. Donovan and great-grand-daughter, Mya L. Pinksaw. Doris is also survived by her sister-in-law, Margaret Sant.

The Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, January 11, 2019, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Josephs Church, Broadway and Mann Avenue in Newport, RI. Burial will follow at Middletown Cemetery, Wyatt Road and Turner Road in Middletown, RI, immediately following Mass. No calling hours will be held.
