Dorothy A. Ribeiro, 82, of Newport died Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Heatherwood Nursing and Subacute Center of Newport, RI. Born on March 7, 1934 in Newport, RI, she was the daughter of the late Fortunato and Mary (Rosa) Ribeiro. Dorothy worked as a bookkeeper at the former Sullivan Hardware Store for over 30 years and also at Trans Com Communications. She was devoted to her large family and enjoyed listening to Ray Charles.She is survived by her siblings, Alice Johnson of New York, NY, Helen Ribeiro of Newport, RI, Catherine Butler of Newport, RI, and Mary Young of Newport, RI and many nieces and nephews.She was the mother of the late Julie Ribeiro and the sister of the late Silvester Ribeiro, Theodore Ribeiro, Marion Nunley, Rose McCray, Rita Keating and Elizabeth Ribeiro,Calling hours will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2016, from 10-11AM, in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery, Browns Lane, Middletown.
