Douglas R. Kenney Jr.

Douglas R. Kenney, 66, of West Warwick, RI, formerly of Portsmouth, RI, died on August 8, 2026. Born in Newport at the Naval Hospital on March 1, 1960, He was the son of the late Douglas Kenney, Sr. and Margaret (Mills) Kenney.

Douglas was a patriotic Veteran who was very proud of his accomplishments in the United States Marine Corps, spending time in North Carolina, California, and Japan. Once out of the military, he worked diligently on his career at Electric Boat. He was a trusted Welding Supervisor and Woodworker, helping to maintain boats, submarines, and yachts. Douglas was the ultimate Red Sox and Patriots fan-no one was a bigger Tom Brady fan than he was!

Douglas is survived by his siblings; Duncan Kenney, of Portsmouth, RI, Doreen Bruce of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, Deborah Somerlot of Mount Gilead, OH, and Dianna Hartley of West Warwick, RI, his step mother Rhonda (Nutting) Boivin of Portsmouth, numerous nieces and nephews, and many cousins.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at 11:00am in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.
