Earl Francis Fenn, Jr., 72, of Newport passed away peacefully in Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, RI, on Saturday, November 26, 2016. He was surrounded by his loving son and several loyal and faithful lifetime friends. Born in Newport, RI, on February 7, 1944, he was the son of the late Gertrude (Sullivan) Fenn and Earl F. Fenn.A 1963 graduate of Rogers High School, he received an Associate Degree in Accounting from Johnson and Wales University. Earl was employed as a pipe fitter for 36 years at Electric Boat, retiring in 2012. He was previously employed at Johnson Brothers, Commercial Wharf. He was a long-time member of the NRA, Tiverton rod and gun club,Knights of Columbus and Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed duck hunting photograph, and watching the New England Patriots. Survivors include his son, Earl "Buddy" F. Fenn, III and his wife Cassandra, his sister Marcia F. Story of Columbus, OH, his brother John K. Fenn of Punta Gorda, FL and a niece, Kelly Story, also of Columbus, OH and many beloved cousins.He was predeceased by his wife of 38 years, Jo-Ann (Thomas) Fenn.Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 2, 2016, from 4:00-7:00pm at Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.His funeral will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2016, at 8:30am, from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, at 10:00am, in St. Joseph's Church, Broadway, Newport.His burial will follow in St. Columba Cemetery, Browns Lane, Middletown, RI.In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Knights of Columbus, 7 Valley Road, Middletown, RI 02842, or a charity of your choosing.
