Obituary

Edward Wayne Figueira II, a lifelong resident of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, passed away unexpectedly on October 10, 2026, at the age of 48, just 11 days shy of his 49th birthday, following a sudden cardiac event. Though his passing was sudden, he was surrounded by his family and the music he loved. He leaves behind a family who meant everything to him and countless memories cherished by those who knew him. Born on October 21, 1977, in Newport, Rhode Island, Ed was the son of Corinne Edenbach and the late Edward Figueira. He entered the world prematurely at just four pounds, a tiny but fierce fighter. That fighting spirit and determination stayed with him throughout his life.

Ed met life's challenges with the same resilience and tenacity that had been part of him since the very beginning. Though his life was cut far too short, the impact he made on those around him will endure. Above all else, Ed was a devoted husband and father. His wife, Deb, was his high school sweetheart and the love of his life. Together, they built a life centered on their family. He was immensely proud of Deb as she pursued her nursing career after having their children, always supporting her and celebrating her accomplishments. His greatest joy was being a dad to Kennedy and Edward III. He treasured being part of their lives, whether cheering them on from the sidelines, helping with homework, or sharing the everyday moments that become life's most meaningful memories. His family was his world, and he made sure they knew it. Anyone who knew Ed will remember his contagious giggle, sarcastic humor, and love of telling a good story. He knew his own mind and was never afraid to share it, keeping those around him on their toes with his straightforward nature and quick wit. Ed was unapologetically himself, and those who knew him wouldn't have wanted him any other way. His laughter, stories, and presence will be missed more than words can express. Some of Ed and Deb's happiest moments were spent making memories with their children. They loved traveling, attending concerts and local festivals, going out to dinner, and, above all, laughing together. It was the time they spent together that mattered most. Those shared experiences and the memories they created will remain a lasting part of their family's story. Throughout his life, Ed wore many hats, but whatever he took on, he approached it with hard work, dedication, and a determination to do things his own way.

As the owner of Pro-Line Painting, Ed was an impeccable painter who took pride in his work and earned the respect of those he worked with. Earlier in life, he worked alongside his brother-in-law at R&A Autobody and with his stepfather and sister at Memorial & Connors Funeral Homes. His strong work ethic was simply part of who he was. Ed worked hard, loved fiercely, and lived life on his own terms.

Ed is survived by his wife, Debra (Oman) Figueira, and their children, Kennedy Christine and Edward Wayne III and beloved dogs, Ginger and Nora; his mother, Corinne Edenbach, and stepfather, Robert Edenbach; his siblings, Joseph Coleman (Guia), Stephen Coleman, Lisa Alves (Mike), and Tracey Alvanas (Eric); his brother-in-law, Rick Oman (Angie); and his parents-in-law, Richard and Christine Oman. He also leaves behind his nieces and nephews: Chelsey Bhadouria (Shubham) and Caitlin Coleman, Zachary and Christopher Coleman, Victoria and Michael Alves, Alexis Fagan (Jake), Andrew and Matthew Alvanas, and Victoria Ruffin (Marcus) and Kyle Oman; as well as his great-niece, Zaelah. He is also survived by his cousins, Toni Marshall and Bobby Mello, and their father, his cherished uncle Lyn, along with many other extended family members and dear friends.

Ed is now reunited with his father, Edward Figueira; his aunt, Doreen Mello; and his cousin, Paul Mello.

In Ed's memory, donations may be made to the Moyamoya Foundation, the American Heart Association, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 16, 2026, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, Rhode Island. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Barnabas Church.

There are no words that can fully capture Ed or the emptiness left behind. What remains are the laughter he shared, the stories he told, and the memories that will be carried forward by his wife, children, family, and friends. His legacy lives on in the stories retold, the jokes remembered, and the moments when those who knew him find themselves laughing through their tears. Ed will be missed every day, remembered always, and carried in our hearts forever.
