Edwin Henry Todd

Edwin Henry Todd, 96, of Tiverton died Monday, October 24, 2016 at Silver Creek Manor of Bristol, RI. He was the husband of Hilda Mary (Mendonsa) Todd.Mr. Todd was born November 13, 1919 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Ralph and Martha (Petry) Todd. He served in the US Navy from 1937 to 1961 with a rank of Chief Boswains Mate. During his active duty he served in WWII and the Korean War. In 1955 56 Mr. Todd was assigned to the icebreaker USS Edisto to support Operation Deepfreeze I. https://www.navalhistory.org/2013/02/01/february-1-1955-task-force-43-commissioned-to-plan-and-execute-operation-deepfreeze He was a member of DAV, Fleet Reserve Association, Knights of Columbus, and VFW. Besides his loving wife of 71 years, he is survived by his children Steven Todd, his wife Edith (Archambault) of Little Compton, RI, Patricia Todd-Sokol, her late husband John of Hot Springs, SD, and Michael Todd, his wife Mary (Beaulieu) of Tiverton, RI; his grandchildren Todd Sokol, Kendra Scott, Eric Todd, Brendon Todd and Bailey Todd; six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.Edwin is predeceased by his brother Ralph Todd Jr.An hour of visitation will be held Friday, October 28, 2016 from 9:00 am -10:00 am in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI. A funeral service will immediately follow at 10:00 am in the funeral home.
