Eleanor Catherine Silvia

Eleanor Catherine Silvia, 91, of Middletown died Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Heatherwood Nursing Center in Newport, RI. Eleanor was born May 21, 1926 in Newport, RI, the daughter of the late Cornelius J. and Emma (Oesterlein) Moriarty. She was the wife of the late Joseph R. Silvia. Mrs. Silvia had worked in the publications department at the Naval War College, for 32 years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of Trinity Church. She was also a member of the Portuguese American Club, the Vasco daGama Holy Ghost Society, and the Middletown Senior Citizens Center. Mrs. Silvia had also been a volunteer at the Newport Hospital.She is survived her nephew, John Perry, godson, Jeffrey Hall, and several other nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Joseph R. Silvia, she was predeceased by her sister, Margaret Perry, and her brother, Cornelius Moriarty.A private burial will take place in Middletown Cemetery.The family would like to thank the Heatherwood Nursing Center staff for their kind and compassionate care.
